Chevy/GMC Suspension Lift Kits

Rancho Rough Country Skyjacker Superlift Tuff Country

To correctly lift a solid axle General Motors vehicle, it is important to achieve the correct drag link angle. Most vehicles can be lifted 2" and maintain the correct angle. Lifts over 2" increase the distance between the link’s two attaching points causing the vehicle to "wander". These adverse angles also can cause premature wear on other steering components shortening their life expectancy.

There are several options for correcting this angle, however, they all require an open knuckle, 3-bolt steering box. Prior to 1973, most vehicles are not so equipped. The best option is to upgrade the steering box to a 1973 style open knuckle type in order for the various dropped steering components to fit. No steering correction is made for the earlier version steering box.

Once updated, the options for steering correction include steering arm, pitman arm, adjustable drag link or steering blocks.

SKYJACKERŽ has developed and engineered SOFTRIDEŽ technology leaf springs for the earlier generation of Chevy and GMC vehicles (1967-87). The SOFTRIDE technology produces the highest quality of leaf spring systems the industry has ever known. Softride springs manufactured by Skyjacker use tapered leaves to yield a lower spring rate and better travel, Teflon wear pads to help reduce interleaf friction, a "bolt" style clip to reduce leaf friction and shotpeening to compress the steel and increase its tensile strength. The following shows Kits using a rear block and/or add-a-leaf to accomplish the rear lift and Systems using rear leaf springs.

Steering arm recommended for lifts 4" and higher. Must have open knuckle, 3-bolt steering box.

Shocks & steering correction purchased separately. Sway bar lowering kit may be needed for 6" & 8" lifts.

These lifts include Superlift Standard springs. These yield a ride firmer than stock springs. These should be chosen for moderate to heavy-duty use when a winch, big block or diesel power plant is present, or if your rig is used for hauling or towing.

Kit uses rear blocks and/or add-a-leaf. Systems use either 52" or 56" rear leaf springs.
