The Nissan front suspension consists
of upper and lower control arms suspended by torsion bars. Front lift
is achieved by adjusting-up the factory torsion bars. Adjusting-up the
bars without installing the Superlift system creates several problems,
the major one being little or no extension travel, which is the
suspension’s ability to “drop”. As ride height is increased,
distance between the bottom of the upper control arms and their
extension travel stops becomes less and less. This limited travel
results in a very stiff ride. Without extension travel, the suspension
cannot do its job of soaking-up the bumps and dips. Additionally, this
continuous “topping out” causes accelerated upper ball joint wear.
Front end alignment is also a problem. In summary, adjusting-up the
bars alone is not a real option.
Superlift replacement tubular upper
control arms restore proper ball joint angle, camber angle, and allow
sufficient extension travel. The amount of lift available depends on
pre-lift ride height. Two inches of lift can be attained if the bars
have not already been adjusted-up from their stock setting. Rear lift,
if desired, is via 2" longer shackles that give 1” of lift.
